Cinco de Mayo (I swear, totally a coincidence) was spent doing a yoga class taught in Spanish by the incredible Trevor Hawkins. 8:00am Saturdays, at Haute in Carlsbad. It was a freaking blast. Now, some of you may be wondering if I speak Spanish. No! (Okay, that's Spanish, but again, just a coincidence.) But I was there - following the beautiful instruction by a native speaker. The music was latin, though brought in some really unexpected covers -- think U2 and Coldplay in espanol. Trevor had the lot of us (maybe 16-20?) form a circle. I had my back to the mirror when facing the middle of the room. Fun to not see myself during practice... though I did have a rather unflattering view of my reddening face while in down dog. But no matter! We yoga'd! And it was freeing and fun and I just can't recommend it enough. Trevor still uses the Sanskrit names for the poses, but hearing them with a Spanish accent was totally unexpected. There was laughter and energy and joy in this class, and I will absolutely be taking it again.
For those of you nervous about trying it, don't be. It is totally worth experiencing. And it's the Hot A flow -- so regulars will absolutely know what is going on. Even if you've never done the A flow... try it. Seriously. Like, this week.
Had to hustle home so we could head up to LA for a friend's concert. Will be back teaching at Haute tomorrow morning.
Thank you Trevor! Thank you Haute! Amazing way to start a Saturday. For those of you interested, he also does this in Solana Beach on Fridays at 3, I believe.
